Bug Hunters

Bug Hunters from SPS Superstars on Vimeo.
On Thursday the 21st of March we went down to the 'wilderness' by the turf and searched for bugs. We took magnifying glasses and collection boxes. We found ladybugs, spiders, beetles, moths, butterflies and slaters.

Mystery Reader Two

Today we welcomed our second mystery reader into Room 9.  We had some clues to help us discover who it was going to be.
~ I was born in a city by the sea.
~ When I was 7 I loved reading The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries.
~ My favourite wii game is Mario Cart (but I don't play it often).
~ I like One Direction, but not Justin Bieber so much.
~ Action movies are my favourite types of movies.
Who could that be?
Thanks for coming Soraya.

Olivia's Paper Wasp Nest

Olivia brought a paper wasp nest to show us.  The wasp collects fibres, which it chews and mixes with saliva.  This makes the fibre extremely soft and moist.  After a period of chewing, the wasp adds the paste to the nest structure and spreads it out with her mandibles and legs.  After it thoroughly dries; a type of tough, durable paper is formed.
